Most of these platforms will not charge anything back.
Desk booking, space management and IWMS are sold as if they overlap. For the specific job of allocating occupancy cost to departments and cost codes, they do not. This is the shortlist that matters.

Booking platforms — useful, but not for this
These handle desks, rooms and floor plans well. None of them allocates cost to a department, so if chargeback is the reason you are shopping, they are not the answer.

Reading the market
Chargeback is an enterprise feature that mid-market occupiers still need. Of the platforms above, the ones that genuinely prorate common area to departments are almost all priced for large estates. Below that line the usual answer is a spreadsheet.
Licensed does not mean implemented. Chargeback modules are frequently bought as part of an IWMS and then never switched on, because configuring them needs a maintained space inventory and an agreed methodology. Industry commentary is candid that the numbers often end up being assembled by hand anyway.
What to ask on a demo. Can it gross up at more than one level? Can it handle vacant space, sublet exclusions and a room split between two departments? Does it produce a per department statement that reconciles to the cost base? Those four questions separate the products quickly.
How this page is put together
Prices. Where a vendor publishes a price it is quoted as published. Where it does not, the figure is marked as an estimate and its origin named. Most enterprise IWMS vendors publish nothing at all, and any single number you see for them elsewhere should be treated with the same caution.
Scope. This page records what each product does, not how well it does it. Nothing here is a review, a ranking or a recommendation of any named vendor.
Affiliate disclosure. Some links on this page may be affiliate links, meaning a commission may be earned if you sign up with a vendor. It costs you nothing and it does not change what appears here: no vendor pays for placement, for a rating, or to be included or excluded.
Corrections. Vendor pricing moves. If something here is out of date, the date it was last checked is in the title block above — and corrections are welcome at info@chargeablearea.com.
